January 6 - Daily Devotion | Good and Perfect Gifts

"So don't be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession." James 1:16-18 NLT

Do you believe that the Lord wants to do for you more abundantly than you could ever think to ask—Ephesians 3:20?

Because He does!

He gave you the ultimate gift—His only Son—2 Corinthians 9:15. God sent Jesus Christ to this earth on a rescue mission. To save you! Jesus’ sole purpose for coming was to go to the cross. He destroyed sin’s control over you when He took your sin upon Himself and shed His blood to redeem you. To rescue you! God loves you so much that He did not want you to suffer the death you deserved because of your sin—Romans 6:23. So He made a way. He gave you the most precious thing He owned—His perfect Son—so that you would be able to live an abundant life here on earth and that you would have the hope of heaven. If God never gave you another gift, you would have already received enough. And yet, doesn’t He continue to give you more “good and perfect gifts”— James 1:17?

Right now, think of the good and perfect gifts God has given to you - and give Him thanks!

As we remain true to God, confident in His promises, no matter what He allows in our lives - trials or good and perfect gifts - our true saving faith is witnessed by those around us.

Prayer: Abba! Thank You for every good and perfect gift You have given to me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
