Truth Defeats Satan | Daily Devotion
Read Revelation 12
In Revelation 12, John describes a significant event he witnessed. He saw a pregnant woman clothed with the sun, with the moon beneath her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head—Revelation 12:1, representing Israel—Genesis 37:9-11, Isaiah 26:17-18.
He sees another event where a red dragon, representing Satan, falls from heaven taking one-third of the angels with him to the earth—Isaiah 14:12, Ezekiel 28:11. John then sees Satan standing before the woman ready to devour her baby as soon as it is born—Revelation 12:4. The baby represents Jesus Christ, the Messiah. From the beginning Satan has been trying to destroy Israel and stop God’s work of redemption found in His only Son, Jesus Christ. But his plan is thwarted every time—Revelation 12:5-6.
Then a war breaks out in heaven, and Michael the archangel and the angels under his command fight Satan and his demons. Satan loses the battle and is forced out of heaven, thrown to the earth—Revelation 12:7-10. Satan’s power is broken. This event is huge! Because when Satan was first thrown out of heaven, due to his pride—Isaiah 14:12, he was still allowed access to heaven. And he would accuse Christians before God—Job 1:6. But after this event, Satan can no longer enter God’s presence to accuse Christians!
Christian, have you ever been accused of doing something wrong?
That is what Satan does night and day; he accuses Christians. He tries to tear them down and destroy their reputations. Satan seeks to hinder the work God is doing through them. But know this, if you are a genuine Christian, Jesus Christ is your Advocate—1 John 2:1, Hebrews 7:25. Jesus is defending you. And He always wins.
Christian, you are able to defeat Satan and his false accusations because of Jesus Christ, who is Truth—John 14:6. No lie can stand in His presence because He is perfect in knowledge—Proverbs 12:19. If you have not done anything wrong, the accusation will fade as you grow strong. “The righteous keep moving forward and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger”—Job 17:9 NLT.
When you do sin, and Satan condemns you, realize the grace and redemption found in the cross and Jesus Christ’s resurrection. Jesus Christ’s shed blood on the cross covers all of your sins past, present and future—Revelation 12:11, Hebrews 9:22. No charge can stand against you—Romans 8:33-39! Jesus paid for it all! So, walk in integrity and truth. “Be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you”—Matthew 9:2 NKJV.
Know this—you also overcome Satan by the power of your testimony—Revelation 12:11. Invade enemy territory by sharing the gospel and its impact on your life. When you proclaim Christ to others, and His work in your life, you further His Kingdom here on earth as people witness tangible evidence of God’s saving transformative power! No one can argue with your testimony.
Satan knows he has little time left, and he wants to take as many people down as he can. So, in Revelation 12:12-17, he increases his efforts to destroy Israel. However, God protects Israel for three and a half years. Satan then turns his rage on every Christian walking the earth during the Tribulation.
Persecutions will increase, but Christian no one can take your salvation from you. No one can take Christ’s presence from your life. You have this assurance—Romans 8:38-39, John 3:36. So, having the right attitude while being persecuted is key. Remember Paul, he said, “For to me, living is for Christ, and dying is even better. What has happened to me here has helped spread the Good News”—Philippians 1:21, 1:12.
Prayer: Abba, thank You for Your truth, as it protects us from Satan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
