Mountaintop Mornings is a 365-day devotional that is pure Scripture pieced together, with every devotion ending in an Amen. When we pray Scripture, we align our heart with God’s heart. The power in prayer is found in God’s Word, not our voice; it’s God’s voice, not our words.

The goal of every Christian is to know God—to know God’s heart, to live His heart, and to share His heart with others. His heart is His Word. Every believer can have a mountaintop experience with God when they read Scripture and pray; listening and talking to their King.

Included within the pages is a 3-year journal for readers to write their prayers and insights.

Mountaintop Mornings is available on Amazon in paperback, as well as an ebook.

January 10

What worry do you need to leave with the Lord?

Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. * Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by pray and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. * “Lord save me!” * “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” * The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe. * He who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him. * Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths. * Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry. * And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Mountaintop Mornings Book Reviews

“Mountaintop Mornings is a fantastic way to read and internalize God’s Word daily. Each morning’s collection of Scriptures runs along a common theme, a pathway to a higher vantage point overlooking one of many panoramic vistas of God’s love, His character, and His message of hope.

Scripture passages that you might never think to pair together stand side by side on the page, each verse acting as a step that takes you higher and higher toward the mountaintop, where you can’t help but exclaim in agreement, ‘Amen!’

Because each morning’s entry consists entirely of the living water of God’s Word, you’ll find the refreshment you need to start the day. A variety of translations are used, and it’s obvious as you read that Alysa VanderWeerd has meticulously combed through a host of Bible versions to select the one that best highlights the day’s motif.

The 365-day format allows for a mountaintop experience each and every day of the year, and the three-year journaling option gives you the ability to look back at the lessons God has taught you, the conversations with Him that you’ve recorded, and the Scriptures that you’ve memorized and applied to your life over time.

‘The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart’ (Hebrew 4:12 NKJV). Let God’s words examine, penetrate, and revitalize your heart each “mountaintop morning” as you spend intimate time with Him in this remarkable book.”–Brian Jackson, editor at Harvest Christian Fellowship- Pastor Greg Laurie

Mountaintop Mornings

“Mountaintop Mornings is a refreshing way to pray through Scripture. Alysa VanderWeerd has prayerfully taken the priority of praying Scripture to the forefront of the devotional life. The Bible reminds us that we will have mountaintop experiences but also have valley lows. What better way to prepare for the valleys than by soaking in the depths and joys of Scripture. I highly recommend Mountaintop Mornings as a helpful resource to seek the Lord. We can sing just like the sons of Korah who sang, ‘As the deer pants for streams of water so my soul pants for you, my God (Psalm 42:1).'”- Pastor Jon Lee

“Mountaintop Mornings by Alysa VanderWeerd is a powerful spiritual tool designed to help us connect with God over a period of a year. In the presentation to this devotional, the author captures the symbolism of the mountain in scripture and explains why it is important for us to get up to the mountain every morning to converse with God. Prayer, according to VanderWeerd, has an integral place in our life — it allows us to get closer to God, to uncover His will and His plans for our lives. But how can we pray effectively and in the way that pleases God? The answer is simple: using God’s own word, because it reveals God to us and equips us with the voice to use to speak to Him. How much better can we pray than with the words of the one who inspires us to pray, who reaches out to communicate with us, to steer our steps towards His Divine Heart?

With this conviction, the author moves on to provide us with biblically inspired prayers for each day for a period of one year. The book also includes a 3-year journal, a tool that readers can use to formulate their own prayers, note their inspirations, and write down their plan of action as they journey with God. This book is well structured, with each prayer followed by an “Amen” and questions to guide readers in deepening their understanding of the Word of God. The prayers are thematically arranged, each infused with a powerful message, a revelation about God’s love, nature, and endearing solicitude, His plan for our lives, and His abiding grace.

This book will awaken a powerful spiritual consciousness in readers as they deepen their understanding of God’s word and as they surrender to the promptings of His spirit while learning to speak to Him each day. Mountaintop Mornings also features encouraging and empowering words from the author, who allows her personal experience to speak to readers as well. Alysa VanderWeerd’s book is a gift to receive with gratitude and to share with generosity, a wonderful gift of faith and a path to spiritual awakening. So highly recommended.”–Romuald Dzemo, 2018 Reader’s Favorite International Book Award Contest

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Devotional!

I have a hard time connecting to devotionals long term, but this one is absolutely perfect. There’s nothing more powerful than the word of God and this is what this devotional is. Similar verses are strung together from different books of the Bible to give a topical message for the day. There’s also a spot for journaling, which I love, because it gives me the opportunity to reflect and pray through the reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Prayer Resource

I’ve realized over the years in my journey as a Christian that the most powerful prayers a person can pray are found right in scripture. This devotional book is a compilation of bible verses for each day. For me however, it has been more of a prayer journal, a guide of verses to pray for my own life, for those I care about, for the church of Christ as a whole and for issues happening in our world today. It’s simple, yet so refreshing! Hope you all enjoy the blessings of this book! 🙂

5.0 out of 5 stars I cannot begin to describe how much I have enjoyed this devotional

I cannot begin to describe how much I have enjoyed this devotional! Not only is it all scripture-based, but it also includes a 3-year journal. I LOVE this for a couple of reasons. First, it really encourages you to read and write daily because you don’t want to miss a day. Second, you can look back on the prayers of previous years, and see the prayers that Christ answered. It is so important to get into the Word, and while this book does not replace the Bible, it is a wonderful addition to the Bible. It is beautifully and thoughtfully written. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing it!!!
