Wisdom

As I sit here searching the Word this morning, taking in God’s truth, I’m thankful. Finishing up the book of Jeremiah, I see his faithful obedience to the end even amidst affliction, and how vital God’s word is to life. “Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O LORD God, of hosts”- Jeremiah 15:16 NKJV.

Jeremiah endured to the end. And God has called us to do the very same. In His love, God has given us a specific work to do while we are here on earth; and He’s given us the resources to endure through the trials that come with the calling. God loves us so much! In His love, He sent His Son to teach and to show us the way to endure- Hebrews 2:18.

Jesus Christ was always teaching the people. How many times did he stand at the seashore and the people were just drawn to Him- Mark 2:13? Every action held a lesson. Every word hit those listening, deep within; as it reached their heart. When wisdom touches a ready heart, there is life change- Romans 12:2. Jesus Christ is wisdom incarnate, the Word made flesh- John 1:14. The Word gives life because Jesus Christ is the Word, and Jesus Christ is life- John 14:6. He is the only way to God the Father- John 14:6, He is the only Guide.

The psalmist cries out, “This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life”- Psalm 119:50 NKJV. How many times have we sought God’s word amidst affliction to be revived? James tells us to “count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect lacking nothing”- James 1:2-4 NKJV. He then follows these verses by telling us that if we need wisdom, to ask God, who gives it liberally and without reproach- James 1:5. The Word of God is the divine wisdom we need to face affliction with joy, as it is “a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her”- Proverbs 3:18 NKJV.

“The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight to life.” Psalm 19:7-8 NLT Therefore, we hide God’s word in our heart so that we do not sin against Him, in those moments of trial or affliction- Psalm 119:11.

Will you pray with me?

Abba! Thank You for sending Your Son to walk this earth, living a perfect life for us. Jesus showed us the way to live; He taught us truths to cling to. Your Word gives us life because it is Jesus Christ. Praying we would all keep Jesus Christ at the center of logistics in our current situation, as He is the source of life and life lived abundantly. There are many needing a word from You today, as they struggle to endure amidst the affliction. Thank You Lord for reaching them with that exact word. Many need wisdom, and You are so faithful to provide it. Lord, forgive us of our sins. Give us hearts to pray for the unsaid; and faithfulness to endure, praying until we see Your answer or hear You say regarding the specific situation, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in your weakness”- 2 Corinthians 12:9. Lord, would You be glorified in our specific situation, placing us where we will best honor You. Thank You for moving mountains, for parting Red Seas. Nothing is too hard for You Lord! You have a plan- Jeremiah 29:11, and it is good. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
